Caligari trueSpace 7.6 released free

Perhaps a little off-topic, but interesting nonetheless, Caligari (which was recently acquired by Microsoft) has released today version 7.6 of it's 3d modeling application named trueSpace.

trueSpace is clearly an attempt by Microsoft to catch up to the Google SketchUp/Google Earth combination.

I went to the site and checked it out. Interesting. In terms of rendering and animation it does seem superior. I don't know if it's easier to use. That's what matters to me. And since I am a CAD detailer and modeler more than a renderer I would prefer sketchup even without trying Caligari. I would miss sketchups ability to export a cutlist BOMs, DWG files, and import autocad x-refs, all with plugins of course. But it's the plugins that make sketchup powerful.

I'll download it to keep it in my arsenal. and then I'l forget it because I like sketchup's renderings just fine, even for presentations.
